Feeling uncertain, 60 and beyond.

Uncertainty

When this time in our lives feels uncertain

Some changes feel freeing.
Others feel unfamiliar.

And sometimes, even when everything looks fine on the outside, there’s a quiet feeling inside that something has shifted.

For many of us, life used to feel more defined.

There were routines.
Responsibilities.
A clear sense of what each day required.

Now, things can feel a little more open.

And while that openness can be a gift… it can also feel unsettling.

If you’ve felt that way, you’re not alone.

Uncertainty is a natural part of change.

It doesn’t mean something is wrong.

🌿 A Gentle Reminder

Uncertainty does not mean weakness.

In fact, it often reveals strength we didn’t realize we still had.

We’ve lived through changes before.

We’ve adjusted.
We’ve adapted.
We’ve kept going.

If you’re feeling uncertain lately, here are a few things to hold onto:

1. You are allowed to move at your own pace

There is no timeline you need to follow.

You don’t have to figure everything out right away.

2. Not having everything figured out doesn’t mean you’re behind

It simply means you’re in a moment of transition.

And transitions take time.

3. Growth at this stage is often quiet

It may not look dramatic.

It may not be visible to others.

But it is still happening.

🌿 Strength Looks Different Now

Strength doesn’t always look bold.

Sometimes it looks like:

  • Getting up and continuing
  • Trying again
  • Sitting with uncertainty and not rushing past it

Sometimes strength is simply staying present.

🌅 One Small Reflection

Take a moment today and notice:

How have you already adapted in your life?

There is more strength there than you may realize.

We don’t have to solve everything at once.

We can take this one steady step at a time.

Together.

And remember…

Right where you are is okay.

Does anyone else feel uncertain with what to do after retirement? I hope I’m not the only one! Recently I’ve tried to employ a morning routine-( in first message) sometimes sticking to it and sometimes staying in bed too long! The weather getting warmer helps to move more.

.Sometimes staying in my house, is what I love to do the best. I just need permission to do it. Not really, but it sure feels like it!

Let me know your thoughts and share your experiences with being retired. I’d love to hear from you! Thanks, Maryanne.
